  • TRUEX AT PHOENIX: Martin Truex Jr. has posted four top-five finishes and 12 top-10s in 30 career NASCAR Cup Series starts at Phoenix Raceway. The former Cup Series champion has finished in the top 10 in five of the past seven Phoenix races, including a 10th-place finish in the series’ most recent visit to the track in November.
  • LAS VEGAS RECAP: Last Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Truex finished sixth after running inside the top 10 for most of the 400-mile race. After starting fourth, Truex finished 10th and eighth in the opening two stages. Following stage two, the No. 19 team boosted their driver from eighth to fourth with a lightning-fast pit stop. Truex eventually raced his way to the front and led six laps before ultimately ending the day with a sixth-place finish.
  • LOOP DATA LEADER: Truex has been a standout so far this season according to Loop Data provided by NASCAR. The Mayetta, New Jersey native currently leads all fulltime drivers in green flag speed, fastest drivers early in a run, and fastest drivers late in a run. Additionally, Truex ranks third in fastest laps run and sits inside the top 10 in speed by segment, driver rating, laps in the top 15, average running position, laps led and quality passes.
  • LOW DOWNFORCE IN 2020: In 10 races on ovals last year using the 750-horsepower, low downforce aero package, Truex earned one win (Martinsville), five top-five finishes and six top-10s. He combined to lead 360 laps in those races.

“We feel like we’re in a pretty good spot so far. Aside from that early wreck in the (Daytona) 500, we’ve shown we can run in the top five, top 10 everywhere we’ve gone. We know that we need to be a little better to win races and to stay in that group that is contending, but James (Small, crew chief) and everyone are doing a great job and we know we’re capable of winning any week. Phoenix will be a good test being the first low downforce race of the year. We felt like we had some room to improve at those races from last season, so I’m excited to see how we stack up this weekend.”
