Decision of the National Motorsports Appeals Panel Regarding Joey Gase

NKP #35: Joey Gase, Joey Gase Motorsports, NCPC Race Against Crime Chevrolet Camaro

The National Motorsports Appeals Panel today heard and considered an appeal of a Safety penalty issued on April 3, 2024 to driver Joey Gase in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.  

The penalty concerns the following sections of the 2024 NASCAR Rule Book: Section 8.8.8.K Crew Members/Servicing. The penalty issued was a $5,000 fine.

Upon hearing the testimony, the decisions of the National Motorsports Appeals Panel are:

1.                  That the Appellant violated the Rule(s) set forth in the Penalty Notice.

2.                  That the Panel affirms and upholds the original Penalty assessed by NASCAR.

In reaching the above decision, the panel provided the following explanation: “The panel concludes NASCAR was correct in ruling that driver Joey Gase put himself in a dangerous position on the racetrack.”

The Appellant has the right to appeal the decision of the National Motorsports Appeals Panel to the National Motorsports Final Appeals Officer in accordance with the NASCAR Rule Book.
