Nite Lites at Michigan International Speedway brings the holiday spirit to life

Nite Lites returns to Michigan International Speedway in 2018 with more than 90 new displays. Guests can view the five-mile Nite Lites Display from the comfort of their vehicles and enjoy holiday music beginning Nov. 22. The display is one of the premier shows in the state, taking guests on a magical tour of Christmas lights.

“We are excited to welcome so many guests to Michigan International Speedway for all our winter events,” track President Rick Brenner said. “First up is Nite Lites, the annual Christmas light display that is a magical experience for families to enjoy during the holiday season. At the turn of the year we host the inaugural MIS Backyard Hockey Tournament as players from throughout the area compete on rinks installed on the tri-oval.”

Pit Road will be transformed with four tunnels, giving guests an opportunity to see the track in a new light. Pit Road features choreographed moves from teams on race weekend, but during Nite Lites choreography will be showcased on a different level as guests will drive through four tunnels. Also new this year are six mega Christmas trees made from lights and a 12 Days of Christmas-themed display.

“Nite Lites is excited to work with Michigan International Speedway to light up the facility this winter,” said John Spink, who owns Nite Lites. “The five-mile display will take guests through a magical experience of lights that will bring Christmas to life. We take pride in making this a ‘can’t miss’ family event.”

The holiday display will open for cars beginning Nov. 22 at 5:30 p.m. and will remain open every day through Dec. 31, from 5:30 – 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5:30 – 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The cost is $25 per car. All veterans and active military personnel are admitted free Dec. 5. The display will feature two lanes of traffic in 2018 as guests drive through six lighted tunnels, 15 mega trees and more than 10-miles of Christmas lights lining the five-mile route.

Winter Wonderland and visits with Santa start Nov. 30. The weekend-only events will be held Nov. 30 – Dec. 2, 7 – 9, 14 – 16 and 21 – 23. The Winter Wonderland display will be open from 6 – 9 p.m. Children can whisper their Christmas wishes to Santa and enjoy a free train ride from 6 – 8:30 p.m. Crafts, concessions and even reindeer will be featured during the event. The reindeer will visit 6 – 9 p.m. on Dec. 7, 14 and 21.

The annual 5K Fun Run and Walk will kick off the festivities Nov. 21. All local runners and walkers can participate in the event, which will take them through the middle of the display and is the only night guests can hike through all the lights.  All runners and walkers can register at http://www.nitelitesshow.com/.
