Toyota USAC: Clear Sailing For Boat in USAC Win At BAPS

Chad Boat led all 30 laps on the way to a dominating win in the USAC P1 Insurance National Midget series’ feature at BAPS Motor Speedway in York Haven, Penn., the finale of Pennsylvania Midget Week.
The victory is the second of the season for Boat and his third in the last six USAC Pennsylvania Midget Week contests. It also marks Boat’s eighth career win with Toyota power and the 28th national midget feature win for a Toyota-powered driver this year.
Starting from the outside of the front row, Boat immediately took the lead, with fellow Toyota driver Brady Bacon in second as caution flags hindered the early portion of the race.
The first major incident came on lap eight when Kyle Craker flipped between turns three and four, with fellow Toyota pilot Spencer Bayston getting collected. Both cars were able to continue.
Boat and Bacon continued to pace the field after the restart until Zeb Wise was finally able to get by Bacon for second, with Boat stretching out more than a two-second lead until the caution flew once more with eight laps remaining.
Wise attempted to reel Boat in with no success after the restart, with Bacon remaining in third and Tanner Carrick moving into fifth.  The race was then interrupted by a red flag after a serious crash on lap 25 halted the race for an extended period.
When the race resumed, Boat pulled away on the green flag and was never seriously challenged on the way to the victory, with Bacon finishing third and Carrick placing fifth to give Toyota three of the top-five finishers.
“It was an awesome night,” said the victorious Boat. “The car was flawless all night. I’m glad we could close out Pennsylvania Midget Week with a win. It had been a little bit of a struggle the last few races, but we never gave up. Thank you to Pristine Auction, KC Drywall and Toyota Racing, I couldn’t do it without them.”
Rounding out the Toyota contingent, Bayston would finish eighth, one spot ahead of Logan Seavey, while Craker was scored in 13th.
With just four full points-paying races remaining, Seavey holds a 98-point advantage in the championship over second-place Bacon, with Bayston three points behind in third and Boat holding down the fourth position.
The USAC P1 Insurance National Midget series returns to action September 5-6 at The Dirt Track at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the inaugural Driven2SaveLives “BC39” presented by NOS Energy Drink.
