The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series announced a penalty to the #24 PK Carsport team. Championship leader Vittorio Ghirelli was docked 20 points in the drivers standings for a technical non-conformity on the #24 Chevrolet Camaro. The issue regarded a shock absorber and was found during a post-race inspection conducted on the top-3 cars from EuroNASCAR PRO Round 04.
“The shocks from the top-3 cars in EuroNASCAR PRO Round 04, Vallelunga, were collected for review. The results of the investigation were that the shock of #24 had a non-compliant part not affecting performance The shocks of the #54 and #7 were found to be compliant,” said NWES Sporting and Technical Director Joe Balash.
Ghirelli’s lead in the standings shrunk to seven points from Gianmarco Ercoli and eleven from Marc Goossens entering the June 8-9 NASCAR GP UK at Brands Hatch. The eleventh edition of the American SpeedFest will be broadcast live on EuroNASCAR’s YouTube channel and plenty of TV channels from all around the world.
