  • LA COLISEUM NOTES: Denny Hamlin has finished 23rd and ninth in two starts at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. In 2022, his race ended prematurely because of a mechanical issue. Last year, Hamlin started third and led 26 laps early on. He was spun out at one point and rallied back to finish ninth in the 150-lap exhibition event.
  • HAMLIN CLASH HISTORY: Hamlin is a three-time Busch Clash winner with all three victories coming at Daytona International Speedway. He won the annual exhibition race to kickstart his rookie season in 2006 and followed up with wins in 2014 and 2016.
  • 2023 SEASON RECAP: Last season marked the fifth consecutive season where Hamlin ended up in the top five in the series standings. Hamlin earned three victories, including his 50th career NASCAR Cup Series win at Pocono Raceway in June. After finishing second in the regular season standings, Hamlin had a strong start to the playoffs with his third career victory at Bristol Motor Speedway. Trouble in the Round of 8 prevented him from competing for the championship, but Hamlin did end the season with another solid overall ranking.
  • SPORT CLIPS: Sport Clips will be featured as the primary sponsor for Hamlin at the Busch Clash. Sport Clips is also scheduled to appear on the No. 11 Toyota Camry XSE later this season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (March 3), Martinsville Speedway (April 7), Kansas Speedway (May 5), Indianapolis Motor Speedway (July 21), and Darlington Raceway (September 1). The sports-themed haircutting franchise based in Georgetown, Texas is a longtime supporter of Joe Gibbs Racing dating back to 2009 and has nearly 1,900 stores in the United States and Canada.

What do you expect going to the Clash this weekend?

“It’s a unique atmosphere and a fun race to kick the season off. It doesn’t really translate to anything else we do because the track is so small, but it’ll be fun to knock some of the rust off from not being in the car since November. I’m looking forward to it. Our team is looking forward to it. So, we’ll just see what we unload with on Saturday and hopefully get ourselves locked into the main event with a good starting spot. From there, you have to stay up front and stay out of trouble to have a shot at the end.”
