Joey Amantea is invading a pair of half-mile tracks this weekend with the Rapid Tire USAC East Coast Sprint Cars.
The action begins on Friday at Bedford Speedway in Bedford, Pa., before Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., hosts a show on Saturday.
“I’m super excited to make laps,” he said. “I haven’t been able to do that lately. We should have had a couple more races this year, but rain has gotten in the way. We’re hoping the forecast gets better for this weekend. I just want to get back in the car.”
Amantea has earned a top-five result at Bedford Speedway each of the last two years, including a career-best fourth-place outing last season.
“I love Bedford,” he said. “It’s one of my favorite tracks. Going there this year with a new motor I’m really excited to see what we can do. I believe we have an honest shot at winning.”
Amantea has also improved his results during his time at Port Royal Speedway, where he posted a career-best run of eighth last summer.
“Port isn’t our best track, but this weekend we’re looking to try something to get some speed out of this car,” he said. “The goal is to come out with a top five.”
