  • TRUEX AT THE ROVAL: Martin Truex Jr. was poised to win the inaugural Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL last year before contact from behind in the next-to-last turn sent his car spinning and relegated him to a 14th-place finish. On the day, the Mayetta, N.J. native led five laps before his misfortune in the final two turns.
  • RICHMOND WIN NOTES: Truex’s victory in Saturday night’s race at Richmond Raceway was the 25th of his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series career (505 starts) and sixth of the season (28 starts). On the night, he led three times for 109 laps, including the final 26 circuits. The win gave Truex and the No. 19 team the season sweep at the .75-mile short track. Truex also won the opening stage, giving him six Playoff points on the night. Wins at Las Vegas and Richmond mark the first time in Truex’s career that he has won back-to-back races. Truex leads all drivers with eight Playoff victories since the 2016 season.
  • ROAD COURSE PROWESS: In the past six road course races, Truex has three wins and a pair of runner-up finishes. The only outlier result was his 14th-place finish at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL last fall where he was in position to win on the final lap. So far this season, Truex led 59 laps on his way to victory lane at Sonoma Raceway and finished second when the series visited Watkins Glen International in August.
  • MTJF STEERING WHEEL PROGRAM: Many drivers, including Truex, will use specially designed steering wheels this weekend as part of the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation’s fourth annual Drive for Teal and Gold Steering Wheel campaign to raise money and awareness for ovarian cancer and childhood cancer. After the race, each driver’s customized camo, teal and gold steering wheel from Max Papis Innovations will be donated to the NASCAR Foundation to be auctioned off to support the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation.
  • BASS PRO SHOPS: Bass Pro Shops will be featured as primary sponsor of the No. 19 Camry this Sunday in Charlotte. Are you good with the changes at the ROVAL?

“I think it will be a really good change. I thought last year the backstretch chicane was just there to kind of slow us down a little bit. It wasn’t really a corner that you could make passes or moves. It was kind of like, you just tried to get through there without crashing every lap because it was so fast. I think with it being more like the bus stop at Watkins Glen will be good. More braking, more of a braking zone, a place that we can make more passes. I think it will be awesome. We will just have to wait and see. I’m looking forward to that.”
