Las Vegas native Kyle Busch favored to win South Point 400, Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series championship

Las Vegas native and 2015 NASCAR Champion Kyle Busch is the favorite to win Sunday’s South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, as well as the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series championship, according to the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa Sports Book.
 

The 55-time MENCS race winner is the 9-2 favorite to take the checkered flag at the 267-lap South Point 400, which kicks off the MENCS Playoffs for the second consecutive year at the 1.5-mile speedway. He’s also a 7-2 favorite to win the season championship, which culminates at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 17.
 

Brad Keselowski – the defending South Point 400 champion – follows at 5-1 odds to win the race, which will begin at 4:15 p.m. Pacific Time on NBC Sports Network. Joey Logano, who won the Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube in Las Vegas in March, and multiple-time LVMS winner Kevin Harvick are next at 6-1, followed by Martin Truex Jr. and Denny Hamlin at 8-1.
 

MENCS Playoffs qualifiers Kyle Larson and Erik Jones are next at 12-1, with Las Vegas’ Kurt Busch at 15-1, Chase Elliott at 18-1, Ryan Blaney at 20-1. Alex Bowman and four-time LVMS winner Jimmie Johnson stand at 30-1, William Byron is 35-1 and Clint Bowyer has 40-1 odds.
 

Reigning MENCS Champion Logano follows Kyle Busch at 5-1 odds to win the season championship, with former NASCAR Champions Harvick (2014) and Keselowski (2012) next at 6-1. Hamlin (7-1), Truex Jr. (8-1) and Elliott (12-1) also may be popular bets to win the 2019 crown.

LVMS’s South Point 400 weekend begins with the World of Westgate 200 Gander Outdoors Truck Series race at 6 p.m. Pacific Time on Friday, with the Rhino Pro Truck Outfitters 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series event following at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and the South Point 400 MENCS playoff kickoff capping the weekend’s racing at 4:15 p.m. on Sunday.
