Max McLaughlin was dealt a 19th-place finish in his first appearance at World Wide Technology Raceway (WWT Raceway) at Gateway after being collected in an accident on lap one. McLaughlin showed muscle in Saturday’s practice session and delivered another solid top-five qualifying effort in pursuit of his eighth consecutive top-10 finish. On the opening lap, the third and fourth-place cars made contact in Turn 3 and spun down the racetrack, collected “Mad Max”, and sent him into the outside wall. The damage to McLaughlin’s Mohawk Toyota Camry was too severe for him to continue and leaves WWT Raceway fifth in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East point standings.

Max McLaughlin Quote:“I thought we had a Mohawk Camry that we could compete for the win tonight. It’s really frustrating to get collected in something out of your control, and just wish these guys could have gotten a finish they deserved. We have a couple more chances to get back to victory lane this year and that’s what we’re going to focus on going to New Hampshire.”
