Tim Disspain | Pit Stop Radio News

Bret Holmes and the No. 23 Holmes ll Excavation team finished seventh at Pocono Raceway on Friday. After the 60-lap event was delayed for lightning in the area, Holmes took the initial green flag from the ninth position. He reported to the Shane Huffman-led team of a tight-handling condition developing on his red Chevrolet in the opening laps of the race. Holmes made his way into the sixth position as green-flag pit stops began on lap 30. The 22-year-old driver assumed the lead on lap 35 before coming to pit road to make his scheduled green-flag pit stop. Armed with four fresh tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment, Holmes battled his way back into position and took the checkered flag in the seventh spot. Holmes’ seventh-place result is his 13th top-10 finish of the season.

BRET HOLMES QUOTE:“July just hasn’t been our month. We had some issues at the end of practice and had to repair them before qualifying. The (No.) 23 team worked hard to get the car ready for the race. We lost some points, but we’re not giving up. We’ll take these next few weeks to regroup and come back focused on a win. I’m looking forward to the dirt tracks coming up. It’ll be a nice change of pace. I’m proud of this team. We’ll keep our heads up and finish this year off strong.”
