Max McLaughlin earned his third top-five finish of 2019 with a fourth-place result in his debut at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday evening. The result allowed “Mad Max” to maintain his top-five position in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series standings after six of 12 races.

For the second-consecutive outing, McLaughlin took the green flag from the front row after qualifying second on Friday evening. McLaughlin drove his Mohawk Northeast Toyota Camry deep into Turn 1 on the opening lap in a bold bid for the race lead. The 19-year old hot shoe sorted out in the top five by lap three and remained there until a caution on lap 21. On a lap 24 restart, McLaughlin ran as high as third until the race’s second and final restart on lap 34.

On the event’s final restart, McLaughlin was shuffled back to seventh, but methodically worked the bottom of the speedway to claw his way back inside the top five. McLaughlin moved into the fourth spot with less than 20 laps to go and held the position to the checkered flag. With six events remaining on the 2019 calendar, McLaughlin remains in the championship mix, 22 markers out of the points lead.

Max McLaughlin Quote:“We were just too loose today, but still made a decent day out of it with our Mohawk Northeast Camry. It’s good to keep running in the top-five consistently. We were a little off to be able to run with the No. 4, so we’ll go back to the shop, improve on our stuff and head to Iowa next week. We’re still in the championship chase, so hopefully we can keep improving each time out and get into victory lane pretty soon.”
