As part of the pre-race ceremony prior to the Alsco 300, the Commonwealth of Kentucky bestowed the distinguished honor of Kentucky Colonel on retiring Alsco Director of Sales and Marketing Jim Divers. Damon Thayer (R), Majority Leader of the Kentucky Senate, made the presentation. In addition, Thayer read the Senate Proclamation also bestowed on Divers.
A Kentucky Colonel is the highest title of honor bestowed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Commissions for Kentucky Colonels are given in recognition of noteworthy accomplishments and outstanding services.
”Jim Divers has been a leader in NASCAR sponsorship and a great partner with Kentucky Speedway,” said Kentucky Speedway General Manager Mark Simendinger. “I am thrilled that our state has recognized him as a Kentucky Colonel and I hope this means he will be back to the races at Kentucky Speedway for many more years!”
After successfully launching its entitlement sponsorship at Kentucky in 2016, Divers has overseen the growth of the relationship with Speedway Motorsports, Inc. (SMI). The partnership now encompasses races at Kentucky Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway and Bristol Motor Speedway. Alsco is the only company to have sponsorship at three NASCAR Xfinity Series events. Under Divers’ leadership, the contract with Kentucky has recently been extended for multiple years.
In addition, he has established partnerships with Richard Petty Motorsports, JR Motorsports, Richard Childress Racing and SMI.
“Alsco has played a key role in the daily operations of Richard Childress Racing and other Childress properties for many years,” said Richard Childress, chairman and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. “We depend on Alsco’s many services and cherish our long-lasting relationship built on common values and a goal of achieving success on and off the track. We commend Jim Divers and the entire Alsco family on their commitment to motorsports, especially leading into a big activation weekend at Kentucky Speedway, and thank them for their continued involvement with Richard Childress Racing.”
