Michigan International Speedway is adding two more cars to the 50 Years of Racing Exhibit presented by Consumers Energy at Michigan International Speedway.
The exhibit will house special memorabilia and cars that once raced on the two-mile oval for fans to enjoy in both June and August.
“We are excited to add two more cars to our 50 Years of Racing Exhibit for both June and August,” track President Rick Brenner said. “Richard Petty and Dale Jarrett combined to win eight NASCAR Cup Series races at MIS and it is exciting to have a car they each drove on display. We continue to add value for our fans on race weekend.”
Richard Petty finished his racing career with 200 wins, the most in NASCAR Cup Series history. In 47 starts at Michigan International Speedway, the King recorded four victories to tie for the sixth-best mark in track lore. Petty’s 1971 Plymouth Road Runner will be on display in the 50 Years of Racing Exhibit. He was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2010.
Dale Jarrett also tallied four wins at Michigan International Speedway during his career to tie Petty for sixth in track history. The Ford Thunderbird that Jarrett drove to victory in the 1996 GM Goodwrench Service 400 will be parked in the 50 Years of Racing Exhibit. During his career, Jarrett totaled 32 victories and 16 pole positions. He was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2014.
The two cars will be showcased alongside the previous seven cars and one truck announced. Also on display will be the Dale Earnhardt Sr. 1995 IROC Championship car, the Al Unser Sr. 1978 IROC Championship car and the Rick Mears 1982 Gould Charge Penske PC 10 car. Fans can also see Greg Biffle’s winning car from 2012 and 2013, the car Carl Edwards drove to victory lane in 2007 and the Roush Fenway Racing truck that visited victory lane twice at MIS. A 1990 Earnhardt Chevy Lumina and a 1969 Ford Torino from David Pearson will be showcased. These nine cars and one truck will be on display in the 50 Years of Racing Exhibit presented by Consumers Energy on both race weekends for fans to enjoy.
