Kingsport Speedway is set for another night of intense, short track racing. Action returns this Friday, May 11.
After an accident that occurred in last week’s LMSC race, track officials have made all the necessary repairs to ensure the safety of all fans and drivers. One official was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation, where he was later released with no injuries.
“For the safety of our fans and drivers, we had to cancel the remainder of events for the night after the wreck in the late model race.” said Karen Tunnell, general manager of the speedway. “Safety is our number one priority for our fans and drivers.”
This Friday’s race will feature races in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Modified 4 division. LMSC, Pure 4, Mod Street, and the Pure Street class is also on the schedule.
As mentioned before, the late model race was cut short. However, the race was official with 32 laps in the books. Zeke Shell scored his first win this season at the Concrete Jungle in the Late Model Stock Car feature.
Royce Peters scored the victory for the Modified Street race.
Bruce Crumbley held off William Hale for the win in the Pure 4 division.
Kevin Canter went back to back winning the Mod 4 feature this week and last week.
Joey Sykes and Rob Austin battled hard in the Pure Street Race, but eventually Sykes prevailed.
Friday Night Heat is scheduled for Friday, May 11. Grandstands will open at 5 p.m. and racing will begin at 8 p.m.
Adult admission is $10 and children 12-and-under are admitted free. Tier parking along Turns 3 and 4 is available for $10 per vehicle plus admission.
