MIS NEWS: Wes Weir named Vice President of Corporate Partnerships and Ticket Sales

Wes Weir will oversee both the corporate partnerships and ticketing departments as the Vice President of Corporate Partnerships and Ticket Sales at Michigan International Speedway. He has been named to the position effective immediately.

Weir brings a wealth of experience in the sports and entertainment industry to Michigan International Speedway. He most recently served as the Director of Corporate Partnerships at International Speedway Corporation. While there he was responsible for securing multi-year partners for facility naming rights, race entitlements, multi-track activation and digital campaigns across ISC’s 12-track portfolio, including MIS.

“Wes brings a wealth of knowledge to Michigan International Speedway as the Vice President of Corporate Partnerships and Ticket Sales,” MIS President Rick Brenner said. “Excited to have Wes join our team and look to create memorable experiences for our partners and fans.”

Prior to joining International Speedway Corporation, Weir spent three seasons with the Grand Rapids Drive, NBA Gatorade League affiliate to the Detroit Pistons. Before serving as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing from 2014 – 2016 and President of Business Operations from 2016 – 17, Weir was integral in the acquisition and launch of the franchise, representing both the ownership group and Detroit Pistons front office. While with the Drive he was responsible for three consecutive seasons of revenue and attendance growth.

Weir spent four years with Palace Sports and Entertainment, parent company of the Detroit Pistons, DTE Energy Music Theatre and the Palace of Auburn Hills, working in all areas of revenue generation from season and group ticket sales to corporate hospitality and sponsorship marketing.

“The vision set forth by leadership along with the overall buzz surrounding Michigan International Speedway right now made this decision an easy one to make,” Weir said. “I look forward to carrying on the tradition of delivering exceptional experiences to our fans and partners here at MIS.”

The Indianapolis native started his career at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Weir brings a wealth of knowledge in both sales and marketing to Michigan International Speedway. He looks to use his experience in sales, marketing, collaborative development and new product adoption to create a week-long event for partners and fans at MIS.

Weir graduated from Trine University in Angola, Indiana with a bachelor’s in business administration. He was a member of the men’s varsity basketball team, serving as a captain his senior season, and earned MIAA All-Conference and All-Academic honors during his playing career. He currently sits on Trine’s Ketner School of Business Advisory Board and consults regularly with the sports management department.

Nestled in the lush Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is NASCAR’s fastest racetrack. It has been the love of NASCAR racing and the thrill of a great time for race fans and drivers alike for 50 years.
