DC Solar, Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s official off-grid mobile solar partner, has been named title sponsor of the track’s September NASCAR Xfinity Series race for 2018.
The DC Solar 300 will take place at LVMS on Saturday, Sept. 15, and is the second of four consecutive days of racing at the dynamic motorsports facility. The DC Solar 300 will be preceded by the Star Nursery 100 K&N West Series race at the LVMS Dirt Track on Thursday, Sept. 13, and a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at the 1.5-mile speedway on Friday, Sept. 14, and will be followed by the South Point 400 NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series race on Sunday, Sept. 16.
“DC Solar’s commitment to LVMS and to racing continues to grow, and we’re lucky to have them as a partner for our fall NASCAR weekend,” LVMS president Chris Powell said. “The DC Solar 300 will be a part of an historic weekend at our speedway, and we look forward to many more years of working with this great company.”
LVMS and DC Solar partnered in 2016 to begin providing solar-powered EV charging stations and LED mobile solar light towers during the track’s spring NASCAR Weekend. The California-based clean energy company expanded its involvement last fall when it sponsored the DC Solar 350 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race won by Tyler Reddick.
“DC Solar is incredibly proud of the relationship we’ve developed with LVMS, and of the progress we’ve made replacing diesel-based products with solar,” DC Solar CEO Jeff Carpoff said. “We’re encouraged to see LVMS embrace mobile solar technology so enthusiastically, much like we’re seeing at race tracks across the country.”
