The sixth annual Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg 5K Run presented by Modern Business Associates is set for Friday, March 9, 2018. Online registration opens this Friday (Dec. 15) for runners and walkers at gpstpete5k.com.
The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, organizers of the annual 5K run and walk event held on the temporary street circuit, and Modern Business Associates (MBA) also jointly announced the renewal of their support for the Police Athletic League (PAL) of St. Petersburg. For the second consecutive year, the event’s proceeds will be donated to PAL for its many programs serving local children and teenagers. MBA has served as presenting sponsor of the 5K since 2014.
“The St. Petersburg Police Athletic League is thrilled to be the recipient of the proceeds from the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg 5K event. PAL is currently providing programming for over 150 kids a day, of which 97 percent of these children are receiving a free or a reduced program fee, so this support is critical to us being able to provide continued programming,” said John Vigue, PAL board member. “With this commitment from MBA and the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg 5K, we will be able to extend our reach into our community and further our mission in Midtown.”
The 5K’s start/finish line will be on Bay Shore Drive NE on the water side of North Straub Park near The Vinoy Park Hotel. The course will follow a route through Downtown St. Petersburg entering and exiting the Firestone Grand Prix track’s layout at Turn 9 near Central Ave. and Pioneer Park.

McDonald, president of MBA. “This event benefits our friends at the Police Athletic League of St. Petersburg. The 5K is an exciting way to experience the Grand Prix and support our community.”

It’s terrific to join with them to promote health and wellness in our community while also assisting PAL in achieving its mission to serve St. Petersburg’s children and teenagers.”
An advance registration price of $25 is offered through Jan. 1, 2018, then the fee increases by $5 each month leading up to the event. On site registration the day of the race will be available for $40.
