The dust hasn’t fully settled on the 2017 NASCAR season, but Martinsville Speedway is already starting to plan for 2018 after a banner year at the historic Speedway.
For a place that’s seen plenty of defining moments in its 70 year history, 2017 will go down as one of the best ever. From Brad Keselowski winning the STP 500 in the spring, to Kyle Busch winning amid the drama that filled the closing laps of the First Data 500 in October, Martinsville Speedway lived up to the billing a “Half Mile of Mayhem.”
“What we saw in 2017 is what has kept Martinsville Speedway on the NASCAR schedule for 70 years,” Speedway President Clay Campbell said. “We saw excellent racing. We saw action on and off the track. We saw emotion. We saw mayhem.”
Racing returns to Martinsville March 25 for the STP 500 and tickets to the race are available now at the lowest price of the season. Prices will increase on December 14.
“I don’t think I have ever been as excited to head into a new year as I am for 2018,” Campbell said. “NASCAR as a whole, and Martinsville Speedway in particular, are riding a tremendous wave of momentum.”
The STP 500 is once again the first short-track race of the season and also the first stop back on the East Coast after the series makes its “West Coast Swing.”
