The new era for NASCAR Euro Series continues to take shape with each passing day. After announcing the first technical development on the EuroNASCAR car with the Samsonas Motorsport 5-speed sequential gearbox, the series unveiled a new qualifying format that will make the on-track action even more exciting. A new single-car qualifying session will set the grid for the PRO championship, while the OPEN championship will keep a traditional format with a 15-minute action packed session.

Following in the footsteps of the world famous Daytona 500, the PRO championship drivers will hit the track one by one on Saturday. Each driver will be given two flying laps to push their machine to the limit and clock the best lap time to start from the best possible position in the all important races. To determine the qualifying order, the NASCAR Euro Series will be referencing the times that the drivers set on Friday. The combined times from Friday’s practice sessions will be inverted, therefore the fastest driver will be the last ones to exit the pit road in Qualifying.

The OPEN championship will maintain the familiar format currently in place, but there’s also a change that will make the session more thrilling for fans. Previously, OPEN drivers were given 20 minutes to set their lap times and went out after the PRO Qualifying. Under the 2025 format, the OPEN Qualifying has been shortened to 15 minutes. This change is designed to incentivize drivers to go full throttle from the start while also making sure that the young drivers and elite amateurs still get their time to tame the mighty V8 powered beasts. The session will take place right before the PRO Qualifying, giving the OPEN drivers an important position in the program as the first ones to hit the track on Saturday morning.

The above mentioned changes will make their debut in the NASCAR Euro Series return to Circuit Ricardo Tormo for a new edition of NASCAR GP Spain on 12-13 April 2025. Be sure to tune in to the official broadcast, as the new qualifying format will be a nail-biter from start to finish
