Toyota driver Daison Pursley capped off a dominating season by clinching the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget championship with a third-place finish at the 83rd annual Turkey Night Grand Prix Saturday night. Pursley’s championship gives Toyota-powered drivers a sweep of the three national midget championships in 2024.
Pursley earned a series-leading seven wins among 16 top-five finishes in the 23-race season. The 20-year-old Locust Grove, Oklahoma native’s title comes a little more than three years after suffering a severe spinal cord injury in a crash at Arizona Speedway.
“Congratulations to Daison Pursley and Chad Boat in winning the 2024 USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget,” said Tyler Gibbs, General Manager of TRD, U.S.A. “It’s been truly incredible to see what Daison’s been able to overcome to become a USAC national champion. Congratulations to Chad and his CB Industries team for winning their second title in the last five seasons.”
Toyota-powered drivers have now won 20 overall national midget series championships since 2013 with ten in USAC competition, eight in POWRi and two in Xtreme Outlaw.
The 2025 midget season kicks off January 12-18 at the 39th annual Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa.
