Jesse Love and the No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet Team Earn 12th-Place Result at Martinsville Speedway
“I’m very proud of our No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet team for the effort put forth, not only this weekend at Martinsville Speedway but this entire year. To get this far into the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs in our first year together is an accomplishment. After practice and qualifying yesterday, I felt like we were going to have a fast Camaro. But once the race started, we fought a very tight car early and pitted off sequence, which put us deep in the field. Overall, we just weren’t good enough today in order to advance to the Championship 4. Our team has been really good this year though. Our summer stretch wasn’t the greatest and unfortunately it came back to bite us on points heading into the Playoffs. The one thing I’m confident in is that we will come out stronger next year. Heading into Phoenix Raceway next weekend, we will try to help Austin Hill and the No. 21 team bring another championship to Richard Childress Racing.”

Austin Hill and the No. 21 Bennett Transportation & Logistics Chevrolet Team Leave Martinsville Speedway Focused on the Opportunity to Win a Championship
“Our Bennett Transportation & Logistics team had to fight all day. We made some changes to last year’s set up to see if we could help it. We worked on the geometry and the timing of the front tires, but we just missed something. Our Chevrolet fired off decent at the beginning of the race and I thought we were going to have a top-10 car all day. Quickly, we lost the handling and started to get loose on entry, extremely tight across the middle, and loose on exit. It’s hard to fix all of those things. I feel bad for Jesse Love with him not making the Championship 4, because I felt like he had a strong chance at a place like this. In saying all that, I came here to Martinsville Speedway with a clear head. We wanted to win the race and a grandfather clock, but it wasn’t meant to be. Our team is fully focused on Phoenix Raceway and excited for the opportunity to win a championship. We are going to live up the moment all week and during the weekend to make the most of it.”
