- ALMIROLA AT MARTINSVILLE: Aric Almirola won in his only NASCAR Xfinity Series start at Martinsville Speedway earlier this season. That night, he started sixth, won stage one, and led a race-high 148 laps on the way to victory lane. The Florida native has also posted a pair of top-five finishes and nine top-10s in NASCAR Cup Series competition at Martinsville. Last fall, Almirola led 66 laps on the way to a runner-up finish in the Cup Series race at the .526-mile oval. Overall, Almirola posted top-10 finishes in four of his last five Cup Series starts at Martinsville.
- HOMESTEAD RECAP: Almirola turned in a solid third-place finish in last weekend’s race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. After starting third, he finished second in stage one and fifth in stage two before ultimately finishing third in the race.
- OWNER’S PLAYOFFS: The No. 20 team is currently tied for the cutoff position in their pursuit of the Xfinity Series owner’s championship. Entering this weekend’s race, the No. 00 team owns the tiebreaker for the final spot by virtue of Cole Custer’s second-place finish at Homestead over Almirola’s third-place result. Both teams sit 10 points behind the No. 7 team while the Nos. 16 and 21 teams have clinched their spots in the Championship 4.
- JGR AT MARTINSVILLE: Joe Gibbs Racing owns five Xfinity Series victories at Martinsville Speedway, including Almirola’s win this spring. Since the track rejoined the Xfinity Series schedule in 2020, JGR has won five of eight races with five different drivers. In 29 combined starts at the .526-mile oval, the organization has tallied 13 top-five finishes, 21 top-10s, three pole awards, and 1,224 laps led. A JGR driver has led at least 100 laps in the past five Martinsville races dating back to April 2022. Harrison Burton, Ty Gibbs, Brandon Jones, and John Hunter Nemechek join Almirola on the list of drivers who have wheeled JGR Toyota GR Supras to victory lane at the track.

How is your confidence level going back to Martinsville Speedway?
“I have a ton of confidence going into this weekend. It’s my favorite track. It’s such a fun place to race and it’s even more fun when you have fast Toyota GR Supras like we do at Joe Gibbs Racing. I can’t wait to get going and for the opportunity we have this weekend. Everyone knows going in that it’s going to be crazy and everyone is going to be doing everything they can to win, but I feel like we’re in a great position and we will have a great car.”
