No. 20 MRC Construction Toyota GR Supra News and Notes

  • ALMIROLA AT LAS VEGAS: Aric Almirola has made five NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In those five starts, his best finish was an 11th-place result in 2015. In March, Almirola started 10th and finished 12th at Las Vegas despite suffering damage early in the race. His resume also includes 21 NASCAR Cup Series starts at the 1.5-mile tri-oval where Almirola’s best finish was a pair of sixth-place runs (September 2018 and March 2022).
  • ROUND OF 12 RECAP: The No. 20 team clinched their spot in the Round of 8 of the Xfinity Series owner’s playoffs with Almirola’s win at Kansas Speedway. He finished 19th at Talladega Superspeedway and ninth at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL to close out the first round.
  • 20 TEAM: Four different drivers have each won a pair of races in the No. 20 Toyota GR Supra this season. The team’s eight victories are the best in the Xfinity Series and helped win the regular season owner’s championship. One of the team’s victories was a dominant performance by John Hunter Nemechek at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March. That day, the team started 12th and led 99 laps on the way to victory lane. Almirola also won the most recent race at a 1.5-mile track at Kansas Speedway three weeks ago.
  • MICHAEL ROBERTS CONSTRUCTION: Michael Roberts Construction will be featured as the primary sponsor of Almirola’s No. 20 Toyota this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. MRC, Inc. is one of Northern California’s preeminent General Contracting firms with expertise in all phases of private and public construction projects. For more information, visit mrcbuilt.com.
  • JGR AT LAS VEGAS: Joe Gibbs Racing has earned four Xfinity Series wins at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, including John Hunter Nemechek’s victory earlier this year. In 86 combined starts at the track, the organization has tallied 27 top-five finishes, 48 top-10s, four pole awards, and 1,291 laps led.
  • TUNE IN: Coverage of this weekend’s Xfinity Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is scheduled for Saturday, October 19, at 7 p.m. ET on The CW, PRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Aric Almirola, Driver of the No. 20 MRC Construction Toyota GR Supra

How do you and the team shift your mindset for the Round of 8?

“I feel like we all know that our goal going into the year was to compete for an owner’s championship and now we’re at the next-to-last step in that process. We’re coming up on three tracks that are typically very strong for JGR. Obviously, these guys won with John Hunter (Nemechek) at Vegas, and we won at Martinsville in the spring, so we know those are two really great opportunities to lock ourselves in or, at minimum, earn stage points and be able to score a lot of points. I’m excited about the opportunity that we have and I’m really thankful for the team we have and the support from Coach and everyone at JGR that put us in this position.”
