NKP #1: Sam Mayer, JR Motorsports, First Bank of Alabama Chevrolet Camaro, #9: Brandon Jones, JR Motorsports, Menards/Little HUG Chevrolet Camaro, and #88: Carson Kvapil, JR Motorsports, Clarience Technologies Chevrolet Camaro

The National Motorsports Appeals Panel today heard and considered an appeal of a disqualification issued on October 5, 2024 to driver Sam Mayer and owner LW Miller in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

The penalty concerns the following sections of the 2024 NASCAR Rule Book for the owner and driver: Sections 14.17.3.2.2.2.A Post-Qualifying and Post-Race Rear Body Inspection Heights. The penalty issued was a race disqualification.

Upon hearing the testimony, the decisions of the National Motorsports Appeals Panel are:

1.                  That the Appellants violated the Rule(s) set forth in the Penalty Notice.

2.                  That the Panel upholds the original Penalty assessed by NASCAR.

In reaching the above decision, the panel provided the following explanation: “The panel found that NASCAR used standard inspection procedures at Talladega Superspeedway on October 5, 2024, on the #1 NXS car and found Rule 14.17.3.2.2.2 in violation.”

The Appeals Panel members for this hearing:

  • Mr. Dixon Johnston
  • Mr. Bill Mullis
  • Ms. Shawna Robinson

As this is a Race Disqualification Appeal, pursuant to Section 11.25.f, the decision of the Panelists will be considered final and there is no ability to appeal the decision to the next level.
