South Boston Speedway officials have unveiled the track’s 2025 season schedule, with the season-opener featuring one of its biggest events of the year.

The speedway will open its 2025 campaign on Saturday afternoon, March 22 with the SMART Modified Tour’s King of the Modifieds event, one of the country’s premier Modified racing events. That event will feature many of the country’s top Modified drivers in a 125-lap race.

South Boston Speedway’s Late Model Stock Car Division competitors will also be in action in the season-opener with twin 50-lap races, each paying $2,500 to win. Another support series for the season-opening event will be announced later.

The King of the Modifieds event day will be the first of three special events on the track’s 2025 season schedule.

“We are announcing the majority of our 2025 schedule now to give everyone as much time as possible to make their plans for next season,” said South Boston Speedway General Manager Brandon Brown. “We are very excited to have the SMART Modified Tour return with the King of the Modifieds race. Last year’s inaugural King of the Modifieds event drew a great field of cars and drivers and we had an incredible crowd on hand as we opened last year’s season. Our Late Model Stock Car Division competitors will add to the excitement of our season-opener battling it out in twin 50-lap races, each with a big prize for the winner. This event will be one that our fans will not want to miss.”

The first event featuring all four of the tracks’ regular NASCAR racing divisions will be the speedway’s second event of the season, which is set for Saturday afternoon, April 12. That event will feature twin 75-lap Late Model Stock Car races. In addition, the track will hold the Limited Sportsman Kenny Meadows Memorial Feature which will go for 75 laps in 2025. Races for the Pure Stocks and Hornets are also on the card.

NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series events are also set for April 26, May 10, May 24, June 7, June 28, July 26, August 9, August 23 and September 6, which will be Championship Night.

Looking ahead to the 2025 slate of special events, the June 28 Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200, the kickoff race for the Virginia Late Model Triple Crown, will be the second of the track’s three special events for 2025.

In addition to the 200-lap Late Model Stock Car race, fans will see a 40-lap race for the Limited Sportsman Division, a 20-lap Pure Stock race and a 15-lap Hornets Division race. A Fourth of July fireworks show will be held after the final race of the night. A practice day is slated for the day before on Friday, June 27.

The third special event on the schedule will be South Boston Speedway’s annual zMAX CARS Tour event. The date for that event will be announced later.
