Back in the ARCA Menards Series saddle after more than two and a half more break, Jason Kitzmiller and his A.L.L. Construction Racing team are back in action and ready to deliver another strong finish in Friday evening’s Henry Ford Health 100 at Michigan International Speedway.
Kitzmiller has enjoyed a banner year through three races this season at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, and Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway, respectively.
His part-time ARCA Menards Series kicked off with a triumphant career-best sixth-place finish at the “World Center of Racing.”
Two months later, the team was plagued by bad luck at Talladega, but in their most recent event at Charlotte Motor Speedway, they rebounded for a solid ninth-place finish in the General Tire 150.
Returning to the Irish Hills of Michigan, Kitzmiller is focused on earning another top-10 finish and hopes to challenge for his first career top-five run at the famed Michigan speedway.
“It feels good to be back,” said Kitzmiller. “It’s been a while, but the downtime has allowed our team to prepare for this race. The team has gone over the car with a fine-toothed comb, and I believe that we’ll unload competitively and can make the steps necessary to keep improving the balance of the race car and then focus on the race.”
Kitzmiller will make his fifth ARCA Menards Series trip to Michigan International Speedway this weekend. In his four previous races, he delivered a track-best eighth-place finish in 2020 after starting 16th.
Since then, he has delivered solid performances and hasn’t finished outside the top 13, mounting an average finish of 11.3 over four seasons.
“Michigan has always been a solid race track for me,” explained Kitzmiller. “I definitely feel comfortable racing there, and we’ve had good race cars. This weekend, though, we are looking to improve that average finish dramatically. We deserve that.
“Selectively picking our races has allowed us to go out and be more competitive. I think Charlotte was a prime example of that. Top-10s are statistically are mojo, but with the season past the halfway point of the year, I’d love nothing more than to keep building our team and bring home a top-five finish before the end of the year.”
This year, the Petersburg, WV native returns to the Brooklyn, Mich. race track, eyeing his seventh career top-10 finish under the tutelage of 11-time ARCA champion Frank Kimmel.
“I am so thankful to have Frank (Kimmel) under our roof,” added Kitzmiller. “He’s not only a wealth of knowledge, but his experience and leadership have the opportunity to allow our team to reach new heights not only as the season progresses but in the years to come. I believe we showcased a little of that at Charlotte Motor Speedway with his ideas before the race and the calls he made from the top of the pit box during the race. I believe the more we’re on track together, the better off we’ll be.”
Outside the ARCA Menards Series circle, Kitzmiller continues to have a hefty presence in the Grand National Super Series, where he recently won the series’ most recent race in late July at Franklin County Speedway.
It was a family affair at Franklin. While the elder Kitzmiller won the second 50-lap race, Issac Kitzmiller bested his dad in the first 50-lap race.
Since 2020, Kitzmiller has 25 ARCA Menards Series starts to his credit, with six top-10 finishes overall, including a career-best sixth-place finish at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway (February 2024).
