No. 18 Starkey/SoundGear Toyota Camry News and Notes:

·   SAWALICH AT ELKO: Minnesota-native William Sawalich will return to his home track, Elko Speedway, this weekend. The Eden Prairie, Minnesota native got his start in racing in 2016 at Little Elko by running quarter midgets. He eventually moved up to Elko Speedway competing in legends cars on the track. Sawalich made his return to the track in last year’s ARCA Menards Series (AMS) race. The hometown favorite started second and led 17 laps during the race. Sawalich was spun on lap 150 and fell back with some damage. He charged back through the field and made a run at the lead in the closing laps but finished in second.

·   LAST TIME OUT:  Sawalich put together a dominate performance last Saturday night at Salem Speedway. The 17-year-old driver grabbed the pole and led every lap to capture his fourth AMS win of the 2024 season. This also marks his eighth career AMS win in his young racing career.

·   2023 ARCA EAST CHAMPION: Sawalich claimed the 2023 ARCA Menards Series East (AMSE) championship at Bristol Motor Speedway. He ended the AMSE season with four wins and finished in the top five in all eight races on the AMSE schedule. He became the second AMSE champion for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) and the first Minnesotan to win the series championship.

·   JGR AT ELKO: JGR has four starts at Elko Speedway with four top-five finishes. Sawalich will seek to become the first JGR driver to win at Elko.

William Sawalich: “Elko means a lot to me since it is where I got my start in racing. To win this race would mean a lot to me and my family. I’m excited to get back home to Minnesota this weekend and race in front of the hometown crowd.
