JGR

No. 20 Toyota Certified Collision Center GR Supra News and Notes:

  • TRUEX AT POCONO: Ryan Truex makes his return to the NASCAR Xfinity Series this weekend in Pocono following a five-week gap between starts. Truex has only made a single NXS start at the tricky triangle, which came in 2018. Truex managed to qualify second and scored a 10th place finish in stage two before ultimately taking home a 10th place result on the day. Truex has also made two Craftsman Truck Series starts, highlighted by a third-place finish in 2017.
  • LAST TIME OUT: Truex’s most recent start this year came at Portland where he showed little rust for a driver making their first road course start in over five years. He scored eighth and eleventh place finishes in the first two stages respectively. Unfortunately, Truex was caught up in some late-race attrition that spun him out and left him to finish 27th on the day.
  • ON THE PITBOX: Seth Chavka will reunite with Truex this weekend. The two last worked together in Atlanta earlier this year. Chavka is no stranger to JGR, as he has spent time as lead race engineer for the likes of Erik Jones, Kyle Busch, and most recently, Ty Gibbs, since starting his tenure with the team in 2019. Prior to joining JGR, Chavka spent seven years at Richard Childress Racing and one year at Kevin Harvick Inc. as an engineer. In his 13 years spent in NASCAR, Chavka has earned six NASCAR Cup Series victories and four Xfinity Series victories.
  • JGR AT POCONO: Kyle Busch scored the lone NXS win for JGR at Pocono in 2018. The team has also earned seven top-fives, 13 top-10s, and three poles since the series began racing there in 2016.

Ryan Truex, Driver of the No. 20 Toyota Certified Collision Center GR Supra:

“You haven’t raced at Pocono since 2018. How will that affect your mindset going into this weekend?”

I’ve gotten pretty accustomed to making do with the circumstances. I’ve adapted really well to getting in a car and getting the most out of it no matter where I’m at. Last time I was here, I actually qualified second so I have some extra confidence going into this week. It will be interesting to see how much of a learning curve I could face in practice, but I feel good about out guys getting it dialed in by the time the green flag waves.“
