ARCA Menards Series West at Irwindale Speedway: Weekend Doubleheader Post-race Notes

ARCA
  • Sean Hingorani (No. 15 Fidelity Capital Toyota) swept the weekend, leading all 150 laps in Thursday’s NAPA Auto Parts 150 Presented by The West Coast Stock Car Motorsports Hall of Fame and then winning Saturday’s West Coast Stock Car Motorsports Hall of Fame 150 Presented by NAPA Auto Parts after his teammate Isabella Robusto (No. 55 Yahoo! Toyota), who had led the previous 57 laps, cut a right front tire and made contact with the wall with just 31 laps remaining.
  • With his second consecutive series victory, Hingorani has assumed the ARCA Menards Series West championship points lead by just two points over Tyler Reif. Reif had led the series standings since the third round of the season at Portland International Raceway.
  • Robusto became just the fifth female driver in series history to finish among the top two in an ARCA Menards Series race with her runner-up finish on Thursday. She joins Hailie Deegan and Gracie Trotter, both of whom have won, and Nicole Behar and Julia Landauer, who recorded second-place finishes. Robusto worked her way past Trevor Huddleston (No. 50 Racecar Factory Ford) for the lead on Saturday and built a nearly two-second lead before misfortune struck, resulting in a 17th-place finish.
  • Jack Wood (No. 16 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet) scored a career-best finish, second, on Saturday night. Wood rebounded after sliding into the turn three wall and damaging his car on Thursday, finishing a season-worst 14th.
  • Jake Finch (No. 20 Phoenix Construction Toyota) finished a career-best third on Thursday, giving Venturini Motorsports a sweep of the top three finishing positions. It marked the first time since September 2020 at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway that a single organization swept the top three positions; in that race, Bill McAnally Racing’s Gracie Trotter, Gio Scelzi, and Jesse Love swept the podium positions.
  • Trevor Huddleston finished fourth on Thursday and looked to be in position to battle for the win on Saturday night. Huddleston took the lead from Isabella Robusto on lap three and led the next 62 laps. He had dropped to third by the time Robusto had her problems in turn one, but instead of challenging Hingorani for the win he himself had a cut right front tire which necessitated the second caution flag of the night. Huddleston lost a lap on pit road, dropping him to ninth at the finish.
  • Tyler Reif (No. 13 Central Coast Cabinets Toyota) started from the General Tire Pole on Thursday but wasn’t able to keep pace with the Venturini team cars and dropped to fifth at the finish. Reif qualified second on Saturday night, led the opening lap and stayed among the top five all night long before crossing the finish line in third, his fifth top-five finish of the season. Reif’s 4.67 average finish leads all drivers who have started all six races so far in 2024.
  • Jaron Giannini (No. 23 Sigma Performance Services Chevrolet) made his ARCA Menards Series West debut on Thursday night and finished sixth; he bettered that by one position on Saturday, finishing fifth to earn his first career series top-five finish.
  • Nick Joanides (No. 71 Jan’s Towing Ford) was second fastest in practice on Thursday but spun on his qualifying lap, likely the result of a broken sway bar arm that was diagnosed after his seventh-place finish. His team made repairs for Saturday and the car was even faster; he led practice and became the 204th different driver to earn a General Tire Pole Award in series history. He was forced to start from the tail after an unapproved adjustment in impound but raced his way back into the top five before settling for fourth at the finish, matching his career best and scoring his second top-five finish of the season.
  • It was an up-and-down weekend for Kyle Keller (No. 12 Setting the Stage/Battle Born Ford); he finished eighth on Thursday night and eleventh on Saturday. Teammate Robbie Kennealy (No. 1 Setting the State/American Swim Ford) suffered engine issues on Thursday, sidelining him for the weekend. Danica Dart (No. 11 Setting the Stage / American Swim Ford) earned a career-best 14th-place finish in the team’s third car on Saturday.
  • The next race for the ARCA Menards Series West is the Shasta 150 at Shasta Speedway on Saturday, July 27. The race will be streamed live on FloRacing at 11:30 pm ET / 8:30 pm PT.
