Daison Pursley drove from sixth to third to earn his fourth consecutive podium finish during Indiana Midget Week in the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget Series’ feature race at Tri-State Speedway Saturday.
Pursley, the series points leader, has now registered a win, a second and two third-place finishes in the four Indiana Midget Week events, along with a pair of top qualifiers.
Pursley would move up to fourth on lap two but passing would prove to be at a premium in Saturday’s feature, which saw just two lead changes on the night. The CB Industries Toyota driver would move into third on lap eight after leader Jake Andreotti slapped the wall and then briefly take over the second spot ahead of eventual race winner Logan Seavey on lap 18, but Seavey would pass him back the following lap.
One of the few drivers to be able to consistently pass on the night was Justin Grant, who drove his RMS Racing Toyota from 15th to fourth to secure his second top-five finish after a second-place showing behind Pursley on Friday night at Bloomington Speedway.
Pursley’s CB Industries teammate Zach Wigal placed fifth, while Gavin Miller finished seventh, Jacob Denney was eighth and Zach Daum ninth as Toyota-powered drivers earned six top-10 finishes on the night.
The USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget Series closes out Indiana Midget Week at Kokomo Speedway Sunday.
