Since 2015, Roberto Benedetti has been part of the gentleman driver line-up in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. The Italian competed in his first full-time season in 2022 and joined CAAL Racing in 2023 to compete for the Legend Trophy title. The 49-year-old will return to the Italian powerhouse run by Luca and Corrado Canneori for his third season, sharing the #88 Chevrolet Camaro with Max Lanza, who has already been confirmed for EuroNASCAR PRO.

In 2023, Benedetti collected seven top-10 results and one top-5 finish on his way to ninth place in the EuroNASCAR 2 overall standings. The Rome native ended up third in the Legend class for drivers over the age of 40 and developed a solid pace on the challenging tracks across Europe. In 2024, Benedetti wants to have a say in the battle for the Legend Trophy and earn his first overall podium finish in EuroNASCAR 2.

“I love the old school style of EuroNASCAR and the pure racing that the series brings to the drivers, teams and fans from around the world,” said Benedetti after signing with CAAL Racing. “I want to improve my pace and finish even higher in the EuroNASCAR 2 overall standings.” That implies winning the Legend Trophy title, but with reigning class champion Melvin de Groot back on the track, fans can expect a close and exciting battle in the special classification.

The entrepreneur is still looking for his moment in Europe’s official NASCAR championship and will work hard to achieve his goals for the 2024 season. The Italian has one of the most successful teams behind him and with Lanza as his teammate, the #88 Chevrolet will be piloted by two drivers with a lot of experience in the series. EuroNASCAR is a driver’s championship where car set-up and pace improvement are the keys to success in a very competitive field with many strong drivers from around the world.

The EuroNASCAR 2 championship is dedicated to young talent, fast amateurs and gentleman drivers, making it the most unpredictable division in the NWES world. Benedetti has what it takes to fight for Legend Trophy victories and become the class winner at the end of 2024. Heading into the season, the Italian had three Legend Trophy race wins to his name, but the Rome native is eager to add more trophies to his home base. The 2024 season kicks off on April 13-14 at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain. All races will be streamed live on EuroNASCAR’s YouTube channel.
