– Jordon Mallett is hitting the road this weekend as the ASCS National Tour resumes competition.
Mallett will race on Friday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., and Saturday at Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Okla.
“It feels good to have somewhere to point the rig and go to,” he said. “We look forward to getting the last piece of this year going and see if all of our preparation from the last couple of weeks pays off. It was nice to get some time at the house and shop to get things in order, but now we’re looking forward to getting back on the road.”
Mallett posted a ninth-place result at Lakeside Speedway in May.
“The last time we were there it was tricky,” he said. “The track was dry and hurting tires in hot laps, but they reworked it before the heat races. We qualified really poor, but raced really good in the heat race. This time I want to not have to play catchup in the heat race by getting a good qualifying lap. I’ve got this car I’m in a lot more comfortable on the big, fast places so hopefully that will translate to success on Friday.”
Saturday’s event will be Mallett’s first visit to Salina Highbanks Speedway.
“I don’t really know what to expect,” he said. “I feel our baseline package is really good where we have it right now. We’ll see what cards we’re dealt and make changes accordingly. I don’t have any laps there so I look forward to going somewhere new.”
Mallett enters the weekend ranked third in the ASCS National Tour championship standings.
