The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series heads to Kansas Speedway this weekend for the Hollywood Casino 400. This will mark the second trip that the series will make to this speedway this year and will also mark the final race of the second round of the NASCAR Playoffs. The Go Fas Racing No.32 currently sits 31st in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series points standings.
This weekend will be Matt DiBenedetto’s 100th race in the top series of NASCAR. DiBenedetto made his first Cup Series start in 2015 and has recorded three top-10’s, two of which were this season. His average finish in 2015 was 32nd and he has seen that statistic improve this year with Go Fas Racing where his average finish is 27th – a huge feat for a smaller team. With DiBenedetto re-signed through 2018, the team will continue to grow throughout the offseason and will look to improve their average finish up into the top-25.
Can-Am and Kappa were also the primary sponsor for the No.32 team last weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. DiBenedetto qualified in the 32nd position, and rode comfortably just outside of the main pack as several contenders got involved in major accidents. Pit strategy even found the Can-Am / Kappa Ford leading eleven laps in the middle-half of the race before a caution came out for debris. Another big accident occurred on lap 177/188 where the No.32 got minor cosmetic damage and came to pit road. Unfortunately, a misunderstanding with the timing of the red-flag under the following caution caused NASCAR to park the No.32 team and several other teams for the remaining part of the race. Without this misunderstanding, the Can-Am / Kappa Ford would likely have finished within the top-10 as only twelve cars finished the race, but still ended up with a 31st place result.
