NASCAR Xfinity Series race winning team, Kaulig Racing announced today that part-time driver AJ Allmendinger will compete in the No. 10 Chevrolet at Watkins Glen International on Saturday, Aug. 3. Allmendinger is a previous winner at Watkins Glen, having earned the victory in 2014 in the Cup Series, NASCAR’s highest level of racing.
“It’s an honor to be able to compete for Kaulig Racing at one of my favorite tracks, Watkins Glen International,” Allmendinger said. “I’ve been fortunate enough to win there in the Cup Series and had a strong run finishing second last season in my only Xfinity start there. Matt Kaulig, Chris Rice and all of the guys made Daytona so enjoyable and fun, I can’t wait to get to The Glen.”
In his lone NXS start at the New York road course, Allmendinger collected one stage win (Stage Two) and led 11 laps en route to his runner-up finish. So far this season with Kaulig Racing, the veteran driver has led 33 laps and crossed the finish line in third – which all took place in his first start with the team at Daytona International Speedway (July 5).
As previously announced, Allmendinger is also scheduled to join the No. 10 team at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (Aug. 10) Road America (Aug. 24) and at Charlotte Motor Speedway for its ROVAL race (Sept. 28).
The primary partner for the No. 10 Chevrolet at Watkins Glen will be released at a later date.
