After an off-weekend, the Monster Energy NASCAR Series (MENCS) heads to the west coast where California native Cole Whitt and the No. 72 TriStar Motorsports will compete at Sonoma Raceway. Hosting the Toyota Save Mart 350, Sonoma Raceway will serve as the first road course race of the season for the MENCS. The 1.99-mile, 10-turn road course is where Whitt has four previous MENCS starts, has completed a total of 440 laps and secured his best finish of 21st in 2017 with TriStar Motorsports.
With road course racing requiring more skill, maneuvers and shifting, Whitt favors the challenges of road course racing. He is looking forward to adding right-turns to the racing format this weekend in Sonoma with the No. 72 team.
Joined by family and friends, Whitt and fiancée Kendra Wood made their union official last weekend with a wedding ceremony in their home state of California. The two will continue to reside in North Carolina.
