No. 20 Samaritan’s Purse Toyota GR Supra News and Notes

  • ALMIROLA AT HOMESTEAD: Aric Almirola has made 22 starts at Homestead-Miami Speedway across NASCAR’s three national series. In 14 NASCAR Cup Series starts at the track, he posted a pair of top-five finishes and five top-10s, including a ninth-place result last October. Almirola’s best finish in five NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at the South Florida oval was an eighth-place run in 2011. His most recent Xfinity Series start at Homestead came back in 2016.
  • LAS VEGAS RECAP: Almirola finished 13th in last weekend’s race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. After placing 12th in stage one, the No. 20 driver was penalized for vehicle interference during his first pit stop. He restarted from the rear of the field and raced to a seventh-place finish in stage two while turning the fastest laps of any driver on track. Almirola fought a mechanical issue late in the race before ultimately finishing 13th.
  • OWNER’S PLAYOFFS: The No. 20 team ranks fourth in the playoff standings for the Xfinity Series’ owner’s championship. With two races remaining in the Round of 8, the No. 20 team currently sits four points above the cutline.
  • JGR AT HOMESTEAD: Joe Gibbs Racing has earned five Xfinity Series wins at Homestead-Miami Speedway. In 65 combined starts at the 1.5-mile track, the organization has recorded 21 top-five finishes, 42 top-10s, five pole awards, and 789 laps led. Harrison Burton, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, and Daniel Suárez have all driven JGR Toyotas to victory lane at Homestead.
  • TUNE IN: Coverage of this weekend’s Xfinity Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway is scheduled for Saturday, October 26, at 4 p.m. ET on The CW, MRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

What is it going to take to win this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway?

“Homestead is a very fun track because there are a lot of options. We know you’re most likely going to have to run right up on the fence, as close as possible to make the most speed. We’ve seen it year after year there. That makes it a lot of fun as a driver, but it’s also very challenging. I’m excited to go there this weekend. I have a lot of confidence in Tyler (Allen, crew chief) and what we’re bringing, so it’s just going to be a matter of making it happen in the race.”
