Martin Doubek wrote NASCAR Whelen Euro Series history by becoming the first two-time EuroNASCAR 2 Champion. Having entered EuroNASCAR 2 Playoffs 04 with a comfortable 45 points lead to his closest rival Patrick Schober, the Hendriks Motorsport driver took no risks and kept the #7 Ford Mustang on track in damp conditions at Circuit Zolder. Claudio Remigio Cappelli impressed by winning an exciting race and sweeping the weekend in Belgium. Having previously won the 2021 EuroNASCAR 2 title, along with his intensely battling competitors Doubek ensured that the EuroNASCAR Finals in 2024 were a history-making spectacle that fans across the world will not forget.

The Czech started the race from sixth and maintained the position after a single-file start was made necessary by the mixed track conditions at the 4.010 kilometer race track. With his closest competitors starting at the front which prevented them from getting bonus points for gaining the most positions in the race, the Czech driver needed a 19th place finish to clinch the title. The new two-time champion did not take unnecessary risks and crossed the finish line in sixth at the end of 15 laps of exciting action to secure his historic achievement.

“I didn’t want to risk it and I’m so happy,” said Doubek about his second championship. “I just wanted to secure the points and we won it again! I’m really happy, now we have two titles so it’s a good feeling. I have no words, I’m so f****** happy! There will be a small party for sure here and I will do the big party at home later!”

Cappelli’s Finals weekend couldn’t have gone any better. The Italian grabbed the lead from Thomas Toffel on the opening lap and mastered the legendary Circuit Zolder in Belgium. A battle between the three Thomases – Toffel, Krasonis and Dombrowski – gave Cappelli some breathing space and while Toffel found some late-race pace in his Race Art Technology machine. The Swiss ran out of time to overtake the Italian in the #5 Academy / Alex Caffi Motorsport Ford Mustang. With three overall wins in four double points Playoffs races, Cappelli claimed the overall win in the Legend Trophy special classification.

“It was a tough race and I sweat a lot because  in the beginning I tried to not take too many risks and use my brain,” said Cappelli in Victory Lane. “I spoke with Toffel before the race and we agreed to keep our line and start attacking only in the second corner. The car was very good and the issues with the brakes came later than yesterday. The handling of the car was perfect, so I was able to compensate and in the end it was perfect!”

Toffel acknowledged that inexperience might’ve cost him the lead at the start, but the Swiss is prepared to keep the momentum he gained in the 2025 season after he confirmed his stay in the official European NASCAR championship post-race. Krasonis completed the podium ahead of Dombrowski, who took his career-best finish on his first weekend with PK Carsport. Schober in fifth secured second place in the championship and is eager for more championship opportunities in the future.

Jack Davidson, Gil Linster, Julien Rehberg and Melvin de Groot rounded out the top-10. Rehberg took the win in the Rookie Trophy, but runner-up Victor Neumann in 11th overall was the one to take the overall crown in the special classification for debutants. In addition, it was Marko Stipp Motorsport’s second consecutive Rookie Trophy win. Veeti Rajala in 12th ended his season with another Rookie Trophy podium finish. As for de Groot, the Dutchman led Roberto Benedetti to complete the Legend Trophy podium. The Lady Trophy race was won by Luli del Castello in 20th, but in 24th position is Arianna Casoli: overall winner for a record fifth time.

A finishing record of six wins and four additional podiums locked Doubek’s crown with a total of 568 points, 43 points ahead of Schober in second position. Krasonis claimed third with 510 points with Toffel and Legend Trophy winner Cappelli completing the overall top-5 with 498 and 481 points respectively. Davidson, Linster, Melvin de Groot, Dombrowski and Rookie Trophy winner Neumann rounded out the overall top-10 positions with Lady Trophy winner Casoli finishing 19th in the standings.
