Harrison Burton and the No. 21 DEX Imaging Mustang Dark Horse are set to start a season-best ninth in Sunday’s YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.
Burton took that spot with a lap at 181.038 miles per hour in the second round of qualifying on Saturday afternoon. He advanced to the second round by posting the seventh-best speed in the opening round. He posted a speed of 181.670 mph in the first round of qualifying.
There was no practice per NASCAR rules for races on drafting tracks.
Sunday’s 188-lap, 500-mile race is scheduled to get the green flag just after 1 p.m. (2 p.m. Eastern) with TV coverage on NBC.
Stage breaks are planned for Laps 60 and 120.
