Back for More … Corey Day is making his immediate return to the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) at Kansas Speedway after debuting at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) last Thursday. The sprint car hot shoe is back behind the wheel of an MHR Chevrolet, this time piloting the No. 91 HendrickCars.com Silverado RST. The Clovis, Calif. teenager delivered an efficient and impressive 18th-place finish on the lead lap in his first taste of NASCAR competition at BMS. Day looks to apply his sprint car background to rim ride at Kansas City’s progressively-banked 1.5-mile speedway and out-perform his result from a week ago.

Cram Session … Day is wasting no time getting up to speed in pavement racing as he will compete in his second-straight week of double duty action. He is attempting to complete 350 miles on Friday evening at Kansas and will start the ARCA Menards Series race prior to the NCTS event. Last week at BMS, Day was a quick study and recorded a seventh-place finish in the ARCA race as a warmup to his NCTS debut. He looks to repeat that progression on Friday at Kansas and fully utilize the additional track time to better his finish from a week ago.

MHR at Kansas … The MHR team has been the organization to beat over the last three trips to Kansas. Last season, Christian Eckes captured the pole position in the May event and followed that up with a victory last September. Zane Smith and Eckes posted second and third-place results, respectively, in the May race at Kansas earlier this year. Day is zeroed in on capitalizing on his teammates’ notebook and experience to fast-track his learning curve in the “Sunflower State”.

Tune In … FOX Sports 2 starts coverage from Kansas at 3:30 p.m. ET with practice and qualifying. Day’s second NCTS showdown is scheduled to go green at 8:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1. Corey Day Quote:

On competing at Kansas Speedway for the first time:

“”I’m interested to see how Kansas (Speedway) races. I’ve been on the Chevrolet simulator to get prepared but this is going to race completely different then anything else I’ve experienced. I at least will have extra laps with racing ARCA again. Hopefully I get up to speed fast and have another solid day for HendrickCars.com.”
