  • ALMIROLA AT KANSAS: Aric Almirola has made 29 NASCAR national series starts at Kansas Speedway. He posted seven top-10s in NASCAR Cup Series competition and his best finish in three NASCAR Xfinity Series starts is a 12th-place result in his most recent start back in October 2011.
  • ALMIROLA’S SEASON: Almirola has earned one win and four top-five finishes in seven Xfinity Series races this season. The highlight of his season so far is a win at Martinsville Speedway in April. Almirola finished 26th in his last start at Watkins Glen International after a mechanical issue spoiled a solid run.
  • OWNER’S CHAMPIONSHIP: The No. 20 team won the regular season owner’s championship on the strength of seven wins. Four drivers, including Almirola, have driven the No. 20 Toyota GR Supra to victory lane this season. The No. 20 car enters the playoffs positioned atop the owner’s standings with a 24-point advantage over the cutline.
  • SETH CHAVKA: As Joe Gibbs Racing continues to evaluate its overall Xfinity Series program, Almirola will work with crew chief Seth Chavka this weekend in Kansas. Chavka, who typically oversees JGR’s No. 19 team, has worked with eight different drivers, including Almirola, Josh Bilicki, Justin Bonsignore, Ty Gibbs, Joe Graf Jr., Taylor Gray, Brett Moffitt, and Ryan Truex. Chavka and Almirola previously worked together at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Phoenix Raceway in March.
  • JGR AT KANSAS: Joe Gibbs Racing owns 12 Xfinity Series wins at Kansas Speedway, including John Hunter Nemechek’s victory last year. In 64 combined starts at the track, the organization has posted 21 top-five finishes, 37 top-10s, six pole awards, and 1,441 laps led. Christopher Bell, Kyle Busch, Ty Gibbs, Denny Hamlin, Brandon Jones, Matt Kenseth, and Joey Logano join Nemechek on the list of drivers who have taken JGR to victory lane at Kansas.
  • TUNE IN: Coverage of this weekend’s Xfinity Series race at Kansas Speedway is scheduled for Saturday, September 28, at 4 p.m. ET on The CW, MRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

How do you approach the playoffs racing for the owner’s championship?

“I don’t look at it any different than if I were racing for the driver’s championship. The 20 car has been probably the best car in the series this year obviously with winning the most races and the regular season owner’s championship. My job is to be aggressive and run up front to get us to the ultimate goal that we laid out before the season even started and that was to win the owner’s championship. It’s a very realistic goal and it’s up to us to put our best foot forward for seven races and get the job done for Coach and everyone at JGR.”
