RCR NXS Race Recap: Darlington Raceway

NKP #21: Austin Hill, Richard Childress Racing, Bennett Transportation Chevrolet Camaro

Austin Hill and the No. 21 Bennett Transportation & Logistics Chevrolet Team Earn Sixth Consecutive Top-10 Result at Darlington Raceway

“Another top-10 finish for our Bennett Transportation & Logistics team at Darlington Raceway. Seems like we can consistently finish inside the top-10 here, but our No. 21 team is just missing something to close it out. During practice and qualifying earlier this morning, I thought our Chevrolet was extremely good and capable of winning the race. I felt the same in Stage 1, but then our car started to fight some balance issues that hurt our speed. If I ran one lane, the car would be too tight. If I ran a different lane, the car would be too loose. Our car was very loose on the last green flag run in Stage 3, but the caution at the end allowed us to come get fresh tires and make an adjustment. Thankfully, we were able to make up a few positions and get back to ninth place at the checkered. Our Richard Childress Racing team will keep digging and look ahead to Atlanta Motor Speedway next week.”

Jesse Love and the No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet Team Capture Sixth-Place Result at Darlington Raceway

“We had a really good Whelen Chevrolet today at Darlington Raceway. I got into the wall during qualifying and hurt the right side of our No. 2 Chevrolet. My team was able to fix the damage, but we were forced to start at the tail end of the field. That can be a treacherous place to be at a track like Darlington, but my spotter kept me calm early and reminded me to not burn the tires before Stage 1 was complete. We were able to steadily move forward. Danny Stockman made great calls, our adjustments improved the balance of the car, and our pit crew clicked off fast stops throughout the race. Our team performed well overall. With the way the last few weeks have been for our team, it feels like a win to leave here with a solid run. We need to have more races like today, and I know we have the team to do it. Proud of everyone at Richard Childress Racing and ECR Engines and looking forward to going back to Atlanta Motor Speedway.”
