NASCAR Whelen Euro Series returns after the summer break for the fifth edition of the NASCAR GP Czech Republic at the Autodrom Most. The round presents the final opportunity for the drivers to lock their best results in the regular season before the double points playoffs in Germany and Belgium. Top contenders Vittorio Ghirelli and Gil Linster are eager to keep their momentum and they topped the combined times at the end of two 30-minute Free Practice sessions that were important to set up their machines before the Qualifying sessions and four races on Saturday and Sunday.

EuroNASCAR PRO: Championship leader Ghirelli continues run at the top

No one has mastered Autodrom Most better than Vittorio Ghirelli, who took wins in the 4.212-kilometer circuit. The Italian driver used his track knowledge to clock the fastest lap in EuroNASCAR PRO with a time of 1:40.307. A gap of 0.331 seconds separated Ghirelli from countryman Fabrizio Armetta, who grabbed a strong second place finish. Sebastiaan Bleekemolen, another Most race winner, completed the top-3.

The Dutchman led fellow top drivers Marc Goossens and Gianmarco Ercoli who filled the top-5 positions ahead of Paul Jouffreau, the fastest in the Junior Trophy. Liam Hezemans, Tobias Dauenhauer, home favorite Martin Doubek and Vladimiros Tziortzis rounded out the top-10. Thomas Toffel led the Challenger Trophy in 12th, with only half a second separating him from Max Lanza and Riccardo Romagnoli. Ryan Vargas was hampered by a shock failure and was only 16th fastest, but he remained third in the Junior Trophy.

EuroNASCAR 2: Linster leads both sessions, Doubek third

There were no previous winners entering the ever competitive EuroNASCAR 2 division for the 2024 NASCAR GP Czech Republic, but there’s some drivers that’ll be the favorites to win. One of them is Hendriks Motorsport driver Gil Linster, who solidified his title contender role by topping both free practice sessions. He set the best time of 1:41.172. Melvin de Groot delivered an impressive showing, who led the Legend Trophy in second place overall. Martin Doubek is eager to fight for his first victory at home and he laid a solid foundation after finishing third on the combined times.

Patrick Schober was fourth ahead of Thomas Toffel, followed by Brands Hatch winner Jack Davidson in sixth. Mario Ercoli was the fastest, who was the only newcomer to finish inside the top-10 in seventh overall. Thomas Krasonis, Thomas Dombrowski and Claudio Remigio Cappelli completed the top-10 positions. Veeti Rajala and Julien Rehberg earned important experience with their top-3 finishes in the Rookie Trophy. The Lady Trophy was led by Luli del Castello in 16th, five positions ahead of Arianna Casoli who is on course to become the first EuroNASCAR 2 driver to start 100 races.

The regular season finale at Autodrom Most promises to bring the drama and excitement when the action resumes on Saturday with the Qualifying and Round 8 of the 2024 season. All qualifying sessions and races from the Czech Republic will be broadcast live on EuroNASCAR’s YouTube channel and numerous TV channels around the world.
