Wood Knocks Down Top-15 in First Milwaukee Start

NKP #91: Jack Wood, McAnally Hilgemann Racing, High Fives Foundation. GoPro Chevrolet Silverado

Jack Wood’s debut at The Milwaukee Mile resulted in a 15th-place finish on Sunday afternoon. The driver of the No. 91 High Fives Foundation, GoPro Chevrolet Silverado RST posted his fourth top-15 finish of the season and has the team placed 14th in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Trucks Series (NCTS) owners’ point standings after 17 of 23 races.

Wood took the green flag 25th and methodically advanced through the field in the opening 48 laps. He cracked the top-20 by lap 15 and ran as high as 18th under green. A yellow on lap 48 brought the field, including Wood, to pit road for four tires and fuel. Quick work by the No. 91 team netted Wood three positions and finished Stage 1 in 15th under yellow on lap 55.

Wood lined up 14th for a lap 63 restarted but suffered a brief setback with a tight condition and temporarily ran 23rd by lap 91. He gained two positions to run 21st at the end of Stage 2 on lap 110 and returned to pit lane under the yellow for four tires, fuel, and adjustments to improve the balance of his Chevrolet.

The race’s final green flag came on lap 120 as Wood restarted 19th. Similar to the opening run of the event, Wood made his long-run speed known over the final 56 laps. His steady methodical advancement netted him the 15th position at the checkered flag.

Jack Wood Quote:

“We had some good pace in our High Fives Foundation, GoPro Chevrolet today. We just didn’t have the track position to fire off. All these guys did a great job today and we had some good pit stops. We were on the tight side most of the afternoon, but our truck held on really well over a long run. We’ll take it and go to Bristol in a few weeks.”
