Jack Wood earned his fourth top-10 result of the season with a sixth-place finish at Shasta Speedway on Saturday night. The driver of the No. 16 NAPA Auto Care Chevrolet SS holds the third position in the ARCA Menards Series West championship standings after seven of 12 races.
Wood began his day in Anderson, Calif. by posting the second quickest time in practice of 16.15 seconds. He followed up directly after by putting down a time of 16.09 seconds, giving the Californian a third-place starting position for the Shasta 150.
In the early portion of Saturday night’s feature, Wood contested the second position. After maintaining the fourth position for the first third of the race, Wood settled into the sixth position over the event’s second half to finish the 150-lap caution free event. With the sixth-place result, Wood has finished sixth or better in three of the last four races.
Jack Wood Quote:
“I felt we had some good speed after practice and qualifying. I thought our No. 16 NAPA Auto Care Chevrolet was a second or third place car. We ran into the same problem we have had this season when the sun goes away and the track cools down. We expect to be winning these races and we just keep coming up short in the end of the race. ”
