ARCA Menards Series at Salem Speedway: Salem ARCA 200 Post-race Notes

  • William Sawalich (No. 18 Starkey/SoundGear Toyota) scored a clean sweep at Salem Speedway. He was fastest in practice, earned the General Tire Pole Award in qualifying, and led every lap to win the Salem ARCA 200, his fourth ARCA Menards Series win of the season. It was Sawalich’s eighth career series win in 20 career starts.
  • Andres Perez (No. 2 Max Siegel, Inc. Chevrolet) finished second for the second consecutive race; he finished second last Friday night at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. It’s the fourth time in his ARCA Menards Series career that he has finished second; Perez also finished second at the Illinois State Fairgrounds and at Salem in 2023.
  • Lavar Scott (No. 6 Max Siegel Inc. Chevrolet) finished third, his third consecutive top-five finish. Scott finished second at Berlin Raceway and fourth last Friday at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. Scott now unofficially sits second in the ARCA Menards Series championship standings, 48 points behind Perez.
  • Will Kimmel (No. 69 Weddington Custom Homes/Jax Wax Products Ford) finished fourth, his second consecutive fourth-place finish. Kimmel also finished fourth in his most recent ARCA Menards Series start at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May.
  • Christian Rose (No. 32 West Virginia Department of Tourism Ford) finished fifth, his first top-five finish since he finished fifth at Talladega Superspeedway in April.
  • Isaac Johnson (No. 34 Endress + Hauser Ford) finished sixth, Cody Dennison (No. 11 Timcast.com Ford) and Ryan Roulette (No. 12 Bellator Recruiting Services/VFW Ford) finished eighth, each scoring their best career ARCA Menards Series finish. For Dennison and Roulette, it was their first career series top-ten finish.
  • Brayton Laster (No. 06 Peterson Motorsports Toyota) finished ninth, matching his best career series finish set at Salem in 2023. For team owner Wayne Peterson, it marks just his eighth career top-ten finish since 1984 and his first since A.J. Moyer finished ninth at Toledo Speedway in 2021.
  • Kris Wright (No. 15 FNB Corporation Toyota) finished tenth, the only one of the five Venturini Motorsports drivers to finish in the top ten.
  • Greg Van Alst (No. 35 Zaki Ali Personal Injury Attorney/CB Fabricating Ford) finished 17th after being sidelined due to mechanical issues. Van Alst entered the race second in the ARCA Menards Series championship standings, but unofficially dropped to third, 61 points out of the lead.
  • Corey Day (No. 28 HendrickCars.com/Chevrolet Performance Chevrolet) ran among the top five all night, but was involved in a crash on lap 133 that also eliminated Toni Breidinger (No. 25 Venturini Motorsports Toyota). Day, who has won several World of Outlaws and High Limit Racing winged sprint car races in 2024, was making his ARCA Menards Series debut with support from Hendrick Motorsports; he finished 15th. Breidinger was eliminated in a crash not of her making for the second consecutive race; she finished 16th.
