Debut in NorCal … Jack Wood is set to make his debut at Shasta Speedway on Saturday night in his first appearance at the 0.375-mile bullring. The driver of the No. 16 NAPA Auto Care Chevrolet SS begins the second half of the ARCA Menards Series West (AMSW) season on Saturday night as the Californian looks to notch his first career win. Wood has momentum after a career-best second place finish at Irwindale Speedway on July 6th as he takes on the second-shortest track on the calendar. He has three previous starts on tracks 0.375-miles in length and posted a best result of fifth at Colorado National Speedway in 2020.

Season to Date … Wood reclaimed the third position in the AMSW point standings in the second act of the doubleheader at Irwindale earlier this month with a runner-up result. He and crew chief Kevin Bellicourt have posted top-five finishes in two of the last three races, including a fifth-place run at Sonoma Raceway. After 6 of 12 scheduled events, Wood sits third in the championship standings, 31 points behind the leader, with two top-five and three top-10 finishes.

BMR History at Shasta… Saturday night’s showdown in Northern California is only the third appearance for the AMSW competitors at Shasta since 1993. BMR claimed one of those trophies in 2015 with Chris Eggleston at the controls of the team’s No. 99 entry. Wood and teammate Eric Johnson Jr. look to add a second checkered flag in the team’s third appearance at the bullring.

Jack Wood Quote:

On making his debut at Shasta:

“Shasta looks like an interesting place with super tight corners, so I’m excited to get there and get into practice. I think we have a good direction after the second night at Irwindale, so we’re optimistic about this weekend. We had some good speed at IRP (Indianapolis Raceway Park) last weekend in the truck, so I’m glad to stay in that short track mindset and hopefully we can compete for the win this weekend to gain some points.”
