Wreck Leaves Burton, Draiver Team 36th At Indianapolis

NKP #21: Harrison Burton, Wood Brothers Racing, Draiver Ford Mustang

After a promising start to Sunday’s Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Harrison Burton and the No. 21 Draiver team were collected in a multi-car crash on a Lap 74 restart and left with a 36th-place finish.

Burton and the Draiver Mustang Dark Horse took the green flag from 16th place and ran in the top 15 throughout the first 50-lap Stage, ending that segment in 15th place.

The Draiver crew added two fresh tires and fuel to the No. 21 Mustang during the caution flag at the end of the Stage and returned to the track, again running among the top 15.

Another stop under caution at Lap 69 saw the team employ the same pit strategy, but just after the race restarted Burton was one of three drivers who saw their race come to an end due to contact on the backstretch.

Burton was able to drive the Draiver Mustang Dark Horse back around the track, but the damage to the front suspension was too much to continue.

The Cup Series now takes a two-week break during the Olympics and will return to action on Aug. 11 with the Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway.
