No. 20 Jewel-Osco Toyota GR Supra News and Notes

  • NASHVILLE WIN NOTES: John Hunter Nemechek earned his second NASCAR Xfinity Series win of the season and 11th of his career in last weekend’s race at Nashville Superspeedway. After starting 15th, he climbed to eighth in stage one. He began to flex his muscle in stage two as he grabbed the lead on lap 71 and led the remainder of the segment. In the final stage, Nemechek wrestled the lead away on a restart with 46 laps to go and never looked back to secure the victory. It was Joe Gibbs Racing’s seventh win of the year and 211th in the organization’s history.
  • NEMECHEK AT CHICAGO: Nemechek started third and finished second in last year’s rain-shortened Xfinity Series race on the Chicago Street Course. The result was Nemechek’s best Xfinity Series finish on a road course.
  • ROAD COURSES THIE YEAR: In two Xfinity Series starts on road courses this year, Nemechek has finished third at Circuit of the Americas and eighth at Sonoma Raceway.
  • NEMECHEK’S XFINITY SERIES SCHEDULE: Nemechek is slated to compete in 10 Xfinity Series races for Joe Gibbs Racing this season. After Chicago, he will make his final start in the No. 20 Toyota GR Supra at Michigan International Speedway (August 17).
  • 20 TEAM IN 2024: Through 17 races this season, the Tyler-Allen-led No. 20 team has posted a series-best five wins to go along with eight top-five finishes, 12 top-10s, one pole award, and 530 laps led. The team currently ranks third in the owner points standings.
  • JEWEL-OSCO: Nemechek’s No. 20 Toyota GR Supra will feature Jewel-Osco as the primary sponsor this weekend in Chicago. Jewel-Osco is a regional supermarket chain with locations in the Chicagoland area, as well as Indiana and Iowa. Today, Jewel-Osco operates 188 stores as part of Albertsons Companies, one of the largest food and drug retailers in the United States and the District of Columbia. What are your expectations going back to the Chicago Street Course?

“I’m excited about it. I felt like we had a car capable of winning there last year. It just didn’t work out to have an opportunity because of the weather. Obviously, that was an unprecedented scenario having to call the race early, but I would have liked to have at least seen what we could have done as the race played out. Hopefully we can do one spot better this year. It’s a stacked field, so it’s going to be a challenge, but I feel like I’m driving for the best team in the Xfinity Series, and we have a shot to win any time we’re on track.”
