No. 81 Smith General Contracting Toyota GR Supra News and Notes:
- SMITH AT CHICAGO: Chandler Smith finished eighth in the inaugural NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) Chicago Street Race last year. Smith started 16th and was steadily making his way to the front, when the race was stopped and not restarted due to the weather.
- NASHVILLE RECAP: Smith qualified eighth for last weekend’s race at Nashville Superspeedway and ran in the top 10 for the majority of the race. A good restart with 47 laps remaining in the race put Smith in second, behind teammate John Hunter Nemechek. Smith couldn’t catch the eventual winner, Nemechek, and finished second in the race.
- ON THE PITBOX: Crew Chief of the No. 81, JeffMeendering, has visited Victory Lane 10 times as a NXS crew chief, most recently with Smith at Richmond in March 2024. His teams have collected 66 top-five finishes, 136 top-10 finishes, and 13 pole positions under his leadership.
- JGR AT CHICAGO: Joe Gibbs Racing had three cars in last year’s Chicago Street Race resulting in one top-five finish and two top-10 finishes.

This race was such a unique challenge last year and I think this year will be the same, even with one race under our belts. We’re taking a good car out there, so we’re hoping to be able to contend for the win at the end of the day.”
